Nathan's Doc Appointment at the Beach

Nathan went to the Doctor yesterday, January 15th, 2009 and it ended up to be a great appointment. First Nathan was sick and his throat hurt so bad and he was worried about seeing Disney LE. But then, the Doctors told all their friends to not bring Disney LE and now I was worried about putting the stick on my throat:-( But then they did that and it didn't hurt so bad and I wasn't worried :-) So when tomorrow came; Nathan felt a lot better and Becky came over (today). That's all I have to say.
Love,
Nathan, Sandy, John the Scheers Family.

Tropical Storm Fay - On its way

On Wednesday August 20,2008 Nathan, Dad, Mom our cousin Kira and Jessie drove down to Jax Beach to check out the wind surge. The most fun we had was when Nathan and Kira ran in to the foam and kicked it up the beach and the wind took the foam away and the foam looked like bubbles. We all got lots of fresh air and exercise; but our hair looked crazy, especially dads,

Build-A-Bear

Nathan went on a field trip with his fellow classmates to the BUILD-A-BEAR WORKSHOP. A new friend was added to Nathan's collection. Here we see the latest member of our extended family, Bear Wade. He will join his adopted brothers, Dale Bearheart Jr. and Jones Drew.

Brisk, but nice weather in Jacksonville, FL

Though slightly cold, it was a nice day out here in Jacksonville, FL. We stopped by our local park for some scootering, then headed out to the beach for a nice walk and to look out over the ocean.

Urban Legend No More - The Chili's Mega-chip

It has been confirmed; we have finally found the elusive Chili's Mega-chip. Years of searching have finally paid off; when, on a damp and dreary Saturday around noon we came upon the beast.
Before I get too far ahead of myself, let me explain to those of you who may not be familiar with how the legend of the Chili's Mega-chip began.
Many years ago we sat down at one of our favorite restaurants (Chili's) to enjoy an evening free from cooking at home. The evening started off typical, drinks and appetizers were ordered prior to dinner. Then the waitress brought us chips and salsa. As we munched and dipped, we encountered a sight that turned into obsession. There, in the pile lay two chips fused together. First we tried to pull the chips apart without breaking them; it was futile. As we pondered the mechanics of such a union, we asked the waitress for an answer. She explained that it was quite spontaneous and accidental during the cooking process. She said, though rare, that occasionally she had seen more of the same. But, she also said she encountered a 10 layer chip, but not to get our hopes up, as she has never come across one since. We looked at our 2 layer chip awhile, as we placed it back on top of the other chips, pondering what to do. Should we keep it, should we eat it? But, not content with a mere two layer chip, knowing a 10 layer chip could be lurking in our chip basket. Thus began our quest to find the 10 layer Mega-chip. As months turned in to years; the behemoth was not meant to be. We entered Chili's exclaiming, "We seek the Mega-chip, have ye seen 'er?" We were turned away time and time again. Oh, on occasion, we found a 3 layer, and sometimes a 4 layer chip, but our hearts were fixed on finding the monster.
That all changed this Saturday as we finally found the elusive Mega-chip. In a breach of excitement we could not contain our joy as we pranced around the restaurant. But, what did we do with the Mega-chip? We ate it of course. But, not before snapping a few pictures as proof and to put the legend to rest.

Snake Charmer

During a special field trip event at the HELP House, Nathan, for the first time, let a reptile slither around his body. This was a monumental event for us, since Nathan is typically frightened by most animals, especially reptiles. A bold new step toward discovery. Way to go Nathan.
Mom didn't do so bad herself.

Good fun and good food at Joe's Crab Shack

Here is Nathan and Kira after eating their Rice Crispies crab painted with chocolate. Do you think they enjoyed their desert?
